Kostner out of Grand Prix Series

I know, I said I was on holiday! And strictly speaking I am, but... Let's say that's a bit of news worth talking about in this hot summer.

As Icenetwork has reported, Carolina Kostner's name was scratched from the entry lists for the Cup of China and Trophée Eric Bompard, the two Grand Prix events in which she was scheduled to compete.

No formal announcement has been made, not even on Carolina's official website or from the FISG.

First Kostner told the Italian weekly magazine Gente in early July that was considering turning professional. Than, a few days later, she changed her mind and with a message on her official website and on Facebook decided to continue her competitive career until the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

I'll update you on possible further develops.

A statement has been made by Carolina's manager about her reasons for withdrawing from the GP, just after her boyfriend (Alex Schwarzer, the Italian race walker and 2008 Olympic champion) has been disqualified for doping from London Olympics and throwed away a career, (about wich she said to ANSA "I do not approve of what he did, but I love him).

Carolina decided to continue her competitive career only in July, thus was not in shape to compete in the GP. Carolina and her coach decided she will start her season in December, with the Italian Championships.
