Like I already wrote yesterday on Hot Blades, Hot Passion Facebook Page, Kiira Korpi has withdrawn from Worlds because of lingering foot and hip injuries. "Sometimes it´s hard to give up even though you know it´s the only right thing to do. Thanks for supporting and see you next season!", she tweetted.
Coach Maaret Siromaa said: "The decision to withdraw from worlds has been a very tough one, and we all are sad about the situation. It was the main goal for the season, but there was absolutely no other choice. Now we will focus on the rehabilitation of Kiira's leg for the future."
Korpi injured her left foot last. She recovered enough to win her third Finnish title in December and the silver at the Euros in January, despite hurting her upper leg a few weeks before the competition.
After Europeans, the pain persisted, spreading to her hip and foot and greatly restricting the skater's training for the upcoming world championships.
Alisa Mikonsaari will take Korpi's place at worlds.
We share Adam Rippon's whishes to Kiira: "Wishing you a very speedy recovery!!! Xoxoxoxo"
